Good Ideas and Better Ideas

Good idea: Know all of the basic pawn endings.
Better idea: Win your games before the ending is reached.

Good idea: Sacrifice your pawns to launch a devastating attack.
Better idea: Sacrifice your opponents pawns to launch a devestating attack.

Good idea: Be a gracious loser.
Better idea: Never put yourself in a position of having to be a gracious loser.

Good idea: Play chess for fun.
Better idea: (Sorry, but there is no better idea.)

Hey Chuck,
Great ideas! All I need to know now is a) how to win my games before the endgame, and b) how to sacrifice my opponents' pawns for the devastating attack. Then I'll be set. I think I'm good with the play chess for fun aspect and can live with the gracious loser part until I get a) and b) down.
Cheers,
Trish

Better idea...play bridge for fun!! ok, ok...that's a good point-counterpoint. Keep attacking...it's easier, more fun, and less risky when you misstep. Botch an attack, and you lose some initiative (or a pawn or two). Botch a defense...time to set 'em up for the next game!
